It is Settled!

A series of lessons from the Bible

by Howell Lasseter

Face to Face With Jesus Christ

I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom: Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables  (1 Timothy 4:1-4).

To the preachers and religious teachers who read this, please ponder this question, for it must be answered by you: Will you be able to stand before Jesus Christ in the judgment and be able to tell him that everything you taught your fellowman man concerning what one must do to have his sins forgiven, how one becomes a child of God, how one must live while upon this earth was exactly what God said, according to the written Word given to us?

To those readers who sit in the pews listening to what is taught: Do you accept as truth everything that the preacher says? Do you take your Bible and "prove" all things, holding fast to that which is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21)?  Do each of us listeners do this?

Because all of us must someday "appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad" (2 Corinthians 5:10), these questions must be asked, and answered, by each of us. "Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?" (Galatians 4:16). It is not the desire of this writer to become the enemy of anyone; just the opposite! The writer desires to be a true friend to each reader. May it be the desire of us all to be friends of Jesus: "Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you" (John 15:14).

Because God loves us, He has given us a written record of what He requires. Today, our book of commandments is the New Testament. You can study this book, at your own pace, in your own home, free of cost, by sending your request for a series of Bible Correspondence Courses, offered through this website.  As you learn His will, and obey His will, you will be prepared to check out what local preachers and televangelists are teaching, to "see whether those things were so" (Acts 17:10,11).
